When walking around London, you constantly see Pubs displaying a sign saying "Best Fish n' Chips in London". Like how do they know? Who votes on this stuff? I've fell for this on two separate occasions, and they've just turned out to be sub-par for what you're paying for.

Ben's is exactly what you're looking for when it comes down to traditional Fish n Chips. The batter is spot on, the menu gives you a tight selection to choose from, and the flavor of mostly everything is very good. Ambiance is small and tight and just pushing that greasy feel, but come on, it's fried food, it's not supposed to be fancy. Prices are very very reasonable, I'd recommend Ben's to anyone in the area over any pub that is looking for the best traditional Fish n Chips.

One pet peeve: the Heinz ketchup bottles were filled with some sort of liquidly Catsup that didn't really have the best flavor, to the point that I avoided using the ketchup. Maybe use actually Heinz, or use a generic red ketchup bottle.

After a day of museums, I was hungry for some fish and chips, so I popped into Ben's. They have three types of fish on the menu, but upon ordering, was told that the only option for the night was haddock. A bit of a disappointment, but I remained and watched my fish and chips be cooked fresh.

When my fish arrived, it was good. It tasted fresh out of the fryer (because it was) and portions were decent for the price. For a fresh-cooked meal, I was in and out of there pretty quickly.

The food was quite good and relatively inexpensive, but not learning that two types of fish were out of stock until ordering was quite a disappointment and I would have appreciated a sign or other warning.

It's a small, quaint traditional Fish and Chips shop located in Covent Garden.

Fresh fish and chips are cooked on a daily basis, so whenever they serve, it's hot.

Their fish is nicely coated with its batter, not too thick, just the right amount. The crispiness of the batter compliments the softness of the fish inside it.

The chips, we asked for it to be cooked a little bit longer so it's a little crispy, compared to the usual slightly cooked softness it gives. Unfortunately our request wasn't granted. So if you have any special requests, i would suggest to remind the servers.

Although it's a small restaurant, it offers seating in the basement as well as outside the store. For its price and location, it's reasonable, especially if you're only visiting London.

Went to this location after looking for cheaper authentic fish and chips option while vacationing in London. This really is a rather smaller joint that specializes in fish and chips, you can choose from a variety of fishes - my boyfriend and I chose one combo with cod and one with haddock. It was kind of hard to tell the difference.

Depending on what time you come and how busy they are, really determines the freshness of the fish and chips you get. I saw my order unfortunately being pulled from under a heating lamp and the greasiness from being soaked in the oil for a while showed.

The chips were ok - they don't seem to salt chips in the UK which is fine except when you don't salt them right out of the fryer the salt never sticks. Don't bother to get the salad, it's not a salad but just wilted lettuce paired with a few busted tomatoes.

My daughters and I stumbled upon Ben's for some fish and chips. Nothing fancy about this little place but it's clean, serves fresh food and the service is EXCELLENT! Jacob the owner suggested we start with one piece of fish each and he would make more if we ate it all. The fish portion is big and served fresh and pippin hot and more than enough. The credit machine was down and I didn't have any cash on me so I went looking for an ATM and left my daughters behind as collateral. The ATM did not work and I lost track of time as I explored the lively area looking for another ATM. Jacob the owner found me and explained my daughter was worried about me. We rushed back and I never did get any British pounds. Jacob said don't worry about the bill and more importantly take care of your kids and enjoy the rest of the night in London. Luckily my friends showed up and we insisted on paying with USD cash which he accepted. That was super nice of Jacob and you can tell he loves his restaurant and patrons. Thumbs up for great service!
